Hi readers!<\/p>\n

Today I\u2019m going to write about \u201ceduroam\u201d and Windows 8<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

First of all\u2026 What is Eduroam?
\nEduroam <\/a>(edu<\/strong>cation roam<\/strong>ing) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.<\/p>\n

And what is the relation between eduroam and Windows 8?
\nIn the university where I study (Pompeu Fabra University<\/em>) haven\u2019t a configuration wizard for this connection and if you want to get connected you should configure all manually.<\/p>\n

So let\u2019s start with the configuration.<\/p>\n

1. Click \u201cOpen Network and Sharing Center\u201d.<\/p>\n

2. Set up a new connection or network.<\/p>\n

\"Step<\/a>

Step 2<\/p><\/div>\n

3. Manually connect to a wireless network<\/p>\n

\"Step<\/a>

Step 3<\/p><\/div>\n

4. Type the network name (Eduroam) and chose WPA2-Enterprise with AES encryptation.<\/p>\n

Step 4<\/p><\/div>\n

5. Now click \u201cChange the connection settings\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"Step<\/a>

Step 5<\/p><\/div>\n

6. Mark \u201cConnect automatically when the network is in range\u201d if you want to get connected automatically.<\/p>\n

Step 6<\/p><\/div>\n

7. Now change to Security tab, choose Microsoft: EAP-TTLS and click Settings.<\/p>\n

Step 7<\/p><\/div>\n

8. You should enable identity privacy, write the correct server name where you will be authenticated and mark \u201cAddTrust External CA Root\u201d, then press OK.<\/p>\n

9. In the same windows, click over Advanced Settings and mark Specify authentication mode \u201cuser authentication\u201d.<\/p>\n

Step 9<\/p><\/div>\n

10. Now, you are able to get connected to eduroam network.<\/p>\n
